Thanks to the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Youth and Gender Justice Project, the first shelter to accommodate women victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse, opened in San Marcos, Guatemala.
This shelter, containing beds to give refuge to women in need, also provide free legal assistance and free medical and psychological support.
Being violence towards vulnerable groups a widespread problem in Guatemala, this project allows a step forward in the right direction, giving hope, support and justice to those minorities most in need.
